Bernie was born on July 28, 1945 in Prince Albert and passed away just days past his 74th birthday, on August 5, 2019 at St. Paul’s Hospital in Saskatoon. He will be greatly missed and lovingly remembered by his siblings: Ed (Darlene), Stan (Sylvia), Joyce (Glen), Larry (Gloria) and Lionel (Liala) as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Bernie was predeceased by his parents: Peter (1993) and Mary (2012) Mardell; and his brother: Ernest (1991). After a long career with the Department of Highways, Bernie retired and found comfort in the quiet solitude of farming. He carefully kept records of rain and snowfall, crop yields and cattle prices and farmed until his illness in December of 2018. Bernie showed unbelievable strength and optimism as he quietly met the challenges he had to face each day. Many sincere thanks to “Bernie’s Team” as he called his army of compassionate caregivers at St. Paul’s Hospital. Rest in peace dear brother till we meet again. A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Friday, August 9, 2019 at St. Mark Roman Catholic Church, 589 9th Street East, Prince Albert, with Father Jim Kaptein officiating. Family and friends wishing to send online condolences are invited to visit www.beaulacfuneralhome.com.
