Bernard “Bernie” Berg
It is with overwhelming grief and love that we announce the sudden passing of Bernie Berg on Thursday, November 10, 2011 in the Garden River District at the age of 64.
He was born in Brooks, Alberta. Bernie married Carol Foulds on October 26, 1968 in Prince Albert, SK. He attended school at Riverside and graduated at P.A. Tech school and then worked for 38 years at Weyerhaeuser. During that time he obtained his welding ticket and was at the top of his class. His hobbies included farming, hunting, fishing and trapping moles.
He was so much a part of his community and a wonderful father figure to many. He loved life and he worked tirelessly to accomplish his goals. He was able to connect effortlessly with family, old and new friends and even complete strangers. His sense of humour was infectious.
Bernie is survived by his loving wife Carol and children Casie Berg-Brightwell of Edmonton, AB, Lindsay (Cody) Moskal of Lethbridge, AB and Chad (Michael) Leier-Berg of Saskatoon, SK. He is also survived by his sisters Sonja Marshall of Edmonton, AB and Lisa (Brad) Berg-Kolody of Prince Albert; sister-in-law Pearl Berg of Prince Albert; brother-in-law Hollis Ouellette; lifelong friends, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and his close companion “Pepper”. He was predeceased by his daughter Chelsea Lee Berg; his parents Ben and Doreen Berg; his father-in-law Cecil Foulds and mother-in-law Edith Foulds; his sister Darlene Ouellette and his brother Bryan Berg.
A public visitation will be held from 8:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 16 from River Park Memorial Chapel – 301 River Street West, Prince Albert. Funeral service will be held at 1:00 Thursday, November 17 from Messiah Lutheran Church – 1796 – 15th Avenue East. Pastor Dennis Serfas, Director of Spiritual Care of the Victoria Hospital will officiate.
It is the family’s request that those wishing to place memorial tributes in lieu of other tributes, may do so to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Saskatchewan – PO Box 1503, Saskatoon, SK S7K 3R3 or the Prince Albert SPCA – Box 1832 Prince Albert, SK S6V 6J9. Interment will take place at Prince Albert Memorial Gardens.
