Beloved wife, mother, daughter, sister, aunt, niece and best friend, Barbara Ann Beatrice Dodge, passed away peacefully at home with family and friends by her side on March 3, 2015. Barb was born to Ed and Peggy Dodge on February 22, 1953 in Prince Albert.
Throughout Barb’s life, she was driven by her passion to care for and protect those unable to protect themselves. Her career journey that included being a foster parent, educational associate, group home manager, and Camp Thunderbird Camp Counsellor allowed Barb to follow her heart. In her son, Christopher, she demonstrated unconditional love and was so proud of the person he is becoming.
Barb valued honesty, integrity and accountability and exhibited these daily. She never hesitated to keep those around her accountable and to follow through on commitments.
Barb’s favorite pastimes included camping, decorating, Saskatchewan Roughriders, and family gatherings. In the last few months, Barb developed a real love for women’s curling.
She has been involved with owning and operating Riverairre Boarding Kennels for the last 30 years. Caring for dogs, and working with pet owners came natural to Barb.
Barb will be sadly missed by her life partner, Michele Bonneau, sons: Christopher Dodge-Briltz (Courtney), Jason Bonneau; parents: Ed and Peggy Dodge; sister: Peggi-Lynn (Michael) Gatin: brothers: Ed Jr. (Patricia) Dodge; Ken Dodge; Don (Veronica) Dodge; Derek (Shelley) Dodge; mother in law: Hazel Eddy; and many other family members and friends.
A heartfelt thank you to the many family members and friends who provided ongoing care and support for Barb and family in the last year. Kudos to the staff of Prince Albert Parkland Home Care, Victoria Hospital, Saskatoon Cancer Centre, Prince Albert CanSurmount and Prince Albert Medical Pharmacy.
Barb was predeceased by her grandparents Alfred and Elizabeth (Flegger) Dodge, John and Beatrice (Bayley) Norman, and foster son Richie (2014).
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Barbara Dodge Memorial Scholarship Fund for foster children, Mail to: Donor & Alumni Relations, Saskatchewan Polytechnic. Prince Albert Campus, PO Box 3003 Prince Albert Sk. S6V6G1.
A celebration of life will be planned at a later date, as per Barb’s wishes.
