Avis Jacqueline was born on a farm North of Weldon on June 25, 1933 to Ernest and Hjordis Dahl and passed away at the age of 82 years in Prince Albert on November 23, 2015. She was raised with her younger brother Dennis and because their family moved often for work they attended many schools over the years. Some of these schools included Regina, Yellowgrass and Pahonan. Avis loved to play ball and her favourite team was her time spent with the Pahonan Ball Team. They were a very musical family and they entertained at many community functions. Avis sang and played piano, organ and accordion. She also ran for the Carnival Queen in Kinistino. Avis had a very strong work ethic and she worked for several families doing child care. She also worked at the Swen Café in Kinistino. She married George Folland on November 21, 1953 and they had their 62nd wedding anniversary together. They lived on their farm North of Kinistino their entire married life until they moved into the Herb Bassett Home in Prince Albert on September 4, 2015. Their marriage was blessed with three children. She taught her children, grandchild and great grandchildren how important family is; a lesson that has served us all very well. Aside from her family, her pride and joy was her pony ride business which she owned and operated for 44 years. Folland Rodeo and her pony rides were enjoyed all over the province of Saskatchewan. She loved to see the smiles on the children’s faces as they rode her ponies. It gave her great joy to provide what was for some a once in a lifetime experience. She thoroughly enjoyed her time spent at Herb Bassett Home (Golden Hill). She was definitely a social butterfly once again! Her family will be forever thankful to everyone involved in her care. Avis is survived by her husband, George Folland; her daughter June (Raymond) Hawrish, their daughter Rhonda (Dale) Neufeld and great grandsons Grayson and Jordan Neufeld; her son, Gary Folland; her daughter, Brenda Folland; her sister-in-law, Norma Dahl; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, Ernest and Hjordis Dahl; two infant sons, Harley and Allan Folland; her brother, Dennis Dahl; her brother, Spencer Hanson; her parents-in-law; Jacob and Josephine Folland; her brother and sister-in-law, Joseph and Phyllis Folland; her brother-in-law, Melvin Folland; her sister-in-law, Esther Shier; and her sister-in-law, Marie Buhler. Because Avis loved children so much the family has requested that in lieu of other tributes a donation be made in her name to the Children’s Hospital Foundation of Saskatchewan 345- 3rd Ave South Saskatoon, SK S7M 1M6. A Celebration of Avis’s Life will be held on Monday November 30, 2015 at 1:00pm at the Weldon Auditorium, Weldon, SK with Grace Turner officiating. Interment will follow in the Norden Lutheran Cemetery. Family and Friends wishing to send online condolences are welcome to visit www.beaulacfuneralhome.com.
