July 16, 1940 – December 6, 2025
Audrey Irene (Hancock) Kennedy was born a bouncing 3lb baby girl on July 16, 1940, to Annie and Clifford Hancock at Ridgedale, Sask. She grew up and attended Ridgedale School, and upon completing high school, moved to Saskatoon to reside with her Aunt Margaret Barnett and sisters while attending business college. She moved on to work for the Canada Permanent Trust in Saskatoon for the next ten years.
On April 22, 1967, she married Morris Kennedy of Leacross, Sask. They moved to Swift Current, SK, where she worked at the Swift Current Union Hospital. Her second job during the next ten years was helping Morris with banquets at the Comprehensive High School. The next adventure was a 13-month motorhome tour of the USA and Mexico. Once back home, she was employed as an Educational Assistant in the kitchen at the Swift Current Comprehensive High School. She worked at this for the next six years until she and Morris resigned from the high school and embarked on a 15-year RV experience. She worked as a cashier and postmaster during the summer at the Churchill River Trading Post and spent the winters in Arizona. This routine lasted for the next four years. The next trip was a year of travelling via a ride on a West German container ship to Adelaide, Australia. They spent three months touring Australia with a Greyhound Bus pass before moving on to New Zealand for a month using a rental car. Next, they spent a week in Fiji, and then three weeks in Hawaii before returning to Canada. The next few years, she spent cooking with Morris in logging camps in northern B.C. during the spring to fall seasons and winters in Arizona.
In 2000, they moved to Lafleche, SK, where she helped care for her mother-in-law, who was diagnosed with cancer. She also helped Morris manage the Thompson Lake Regional Park campground, took care of the books for Morris’ yard care and maintenance company, and cared for the seniors that the company was employed by. In 2011, they moved to Rosthern, SK, where she resided until her passing on December 6, 2025.
Audrey was predeceased by her parents, Annie and Clifford Hancock, siblings Edith (Ed) Robinson, John Hancock, Lillian (Johnnie) Zapisocki, Donald Hancock and Linda Hancock; brothers-in-law Donald Kennedy and Gary Kennedy; and sisters-in-law Theresa (Ray) Berstad and Gladys Kennedy.
