Our mother, Arlene Ironside was born February 24, 1945 in Saskatoon, SK. She passed away peacefully on September 23, 2016 at Victoria Hospital. Mom received the very best care from all the nursing staff at the hospital and showed her gratitude and appreciation up until the very end. Mom was employed at several businesses throughout her life, retiring in 2013 as a receptionist from the Sisters of Presentation of Mary. She developed many close friendships all through her life and it was these relationships which she deeply treasured. We thank all her close friends and neighbours as she cherished all of you. Mom’s lifelong passion was drawing and later in life she began painting; some of her paintings won accolades at local art competitions. Mom was an active person, walking/exercising every day; even achieving a Hole-in-One at the Tisdale Riverside Golf Course. She was always sewing clothing, creating floral displays, tending to her plants and flowers. Mom loved to watch her kids and grandchildren at their many sports events and activities. Throughout Mom’s life, she was very involved in the community clubs/organizations in both communities of Tisdale and Prince Albert that include school parent councils, Girl Guides, Kinettes, Lions, Order of the Royal Purple, and Toastmasters. Mom also liked to lend a hand and volunteer where needed; fundraising or taking leadership roles at her kid’s activities, at her church, and at other groups and organizations here in Prince Albert including The E.A. Rawlinson Centre for the Arts. Arlene is survived by her daughter Sandie (Barry) Kennedy and her son Rob (Lorri) Ironside and her three special grandchildren Ryan (Danielle), Alyssa and Ethan. She is also survived by her brothers and sisters Garnet, Pearl, Billy, Jean and Betty. Arlene was predeceased by her parents William and Ella Buck and her sister and brothers Nora, Larry, Roy, Gerry, and Ed. Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, September 28, 2016 at Gray’s Funeral Chapel, 575 – 28th Street West, Prince Albert, SK with Reverend Nora Vedress officiating. Interment will be held at South Hill Cemetery.
