Arabelle Gola
2006 ~ 2023

Arabelle Mary Jacqueline Gola, was born on a stormy winter night, December 1, 2006 in Prince Albert, SK, and passed away on August 10, 2023 in Prince Albert, SK, at the age of 16 years.

Her early years were not easy but she always put her struggles aside to help others.

She started dancing at the age of 3 with Ballet ‘n’ All That Jazz. She danced every style of dance possible. She was involved in dance for 9 years of her life but at age 11, she discovered her passion for Volleyball. She took her own volleyball back and forth to school each day. She started with her team at Vickers and continued on to the Carlton High School volleyball team. She played for the Prince Albert Toppers for 4 years and her team went to the national competition in Edmonton. She received the most improved player award.

At age 10, Arabelle came into the care of her grandparents (Valerie and Chuck). They accepted the responsibility and devoted themselves to ensuring she would experience everything life had to offer. Arabelle travelled with her grandparents to places like Mexico, Alaska, North West Territories, and the mountains in Alberta. She loved going on shopping trips to Minot, Calgary, and Edmonton.

She started attending Vickers School in Grade 6. With Arabelle’s infectious laugh and caring personality, she made friends that would last a lifetime. Her bike rides with her friends took her on so many adventures that she wore the treads off the tires.

Arabelle loved spending time with her Great Grandma Mary on her acreage. They would watch Dr. Phil together and her Grandmas favorite soap opera. Her Grandma was always willing to play any game or quiz her on her spelling tests before school.

Since Arabelle was an only child (until the age of 16), her cousins Adam and Sam, naturally took on the role of her older siblings. They made many memories together, including knocking out one of Arabelle’s baby teeth during a pillow fight. She loved spending time with Sam and Jordan and their new twins, Levi and Victoria, at their farm.

In 2019, Arabelle moved to an acreage with her grandparents. Not long after, Arabelle received her first of many goats. She bottle fed Lulu, the goat, as well as William, the lamb, and Nora, the calf. Many animals joined the farm and became some of the most snap-chatted animals on the internet. Fiji, her dog, came into Arabelle’s life in 2021. She was her best friend and would ride in the passenger of her car on trips to Starbucks or to go and buy new leashes, toys, and special treats. She would spend hours on the side by side with her dog Fiji riding alongside her listening to music as loud as she wanted.  Everyone knew about her infinite love for animals. Many school essays were written about rescuing animals and spaying or neutering them.

She went on to Grade 9 with her friends at Carlton Comprehensive High School.  Despite the Pandemic, she found a way to make even more friends.

In April this year, she met her dad, Clayton and his wife, Naureen. She found out that she had 3 sisters: Ashia, Suraiya, and Zarina. She spent the last 4 months getting to know her newly found family, spending time at Candle Lake boating and sitting by the fire. She enjoyed going to the Shania Twain concert with her Grandma Anita, Aunt Shelby, and her younger sisters.

This spring, Arabelle travelled to Santorini, Greece – her dream destination – with the Prince Albert Youth Travel Club. She spent 17 days in Greece, Turkey, and Italy touring the sights. She swam in the Sea of Crete, toured the Vatican, walked in the Coliseum in Rome and ate Gelato in Florence. She dreamed of going to live in New York with her dog, Fiji, when she finished school. She spent hours planning it and wanted her friends to come and stay with her there even if meant that they might have to sleep on an air mattress.

July 2023 was a significant month for Arabelle. She got her driver’s license, her braces came off, and bought her first car that she named Pearl.

She was adventurous and had no fear. The first time she went skiing, she took the expert trail (Black Diamond) at Wapiti instead of taking the beginner bunny trail. This was how Arabelle lived her life – doing exactly what she wanted to do. She loved an adrenaline rush.

Halloween was her favorite celebration and she couldn’t understand why it wasn’t a National holiday. She spent hours deciding on her costume and preparing for the day. Arabelle and her friends would do themes together each year.

Fitness, eating healthy and going to the gym were very important to her. Arabelle’s skin care routine was second to none and would have even make the Kardashian’s envious.

She loved to read and always kept a journal. Arabelle loved music. She liked every genre and had a soft spot for the 80’s.

She had a great sense of humor and loved to make people laugh. She knew so many people and she would say she “wanted to meet everyone”. She created endless memories for everyone that knew her and she will never be forgotten.

Arabelle will be lovingly remembered by her grandparents, Valerie MacDougall and Chuck Hawkins, her mom, Tamara Gola, her dad, Clayton Larocque/Bisson (Naureen) and sisters: Ashia, Suraiya, Zarina, her Grandmother, Anita Larocque, Great Aunt, Michelle Gola (Darren Breckenridge) and cousins Adam Gola and Samantha Breckenridge (Jordan Thurber) and their children Levi and Victoria Thurber, Great Aunt Debbi Gola, and many aunts, uncles, cousins and extended family. She was predeceased by her very special Great Grandmother, Mary Gola in 2018. “People come into your life for a reason, a season, or a lifetime”. Arabelle came into ours for a reason and a lifetime.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Arabelle Gola Memorial Scholarship at the Conexus Credit Union in Prince Albert.

Arabelle’s Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, August 23, 2023 at the Ches Leach Lounge in the Art Hauser’s Centre. Those attending the Celebration of Life for Arabelle, wear her favorite color, Pink. Parking for the Ches Leach Lounge is the South parking lot, enter in South doors.
