He began his working life by helping his father on the farm at a very young age. As a young man he moved to Ontario to work as a logger in the bush. After 15 years at Weyerhaeuser Pulp Mill, he retired at 65 and continued farming in Strong Pine and carried on his passion of carpentry and would build anything that needed to be built for Big Brothers and Sisters, the Ukrainian Club and anybody else that needed his exemplary carpentry skills. He was also very actively involved with Big Brothers and Sisters and the Men’s Ukrainian Club. In addition to building things for his daughters, fishing, ice fishing, hobby farming and camping were some of his favourite pastimes. Since the beginning of 2011, he lived in Nelson Care Home in Prince Albert, SK, Jubilee Lodge in Kinistino, SK and Pineview Terrace in Prince Albert, SK. At each home, he received excellent care and attention from the staff, as well as teasing and laughing with him and made him feel at home.
