Annie Papp
1933 ~ 2025
Mrs. Annie (Tyshynski) Papp (née Shinkaruk) was born on December 12, 1933, in Mildred, SK, to William and Mary Shinkaruk.
She leaves to cherish her memory, her son, Roman Tyshynski of Prince Albert, SK; her son-in-law, Bernard McDonald of Prince Albert, SK; five grandchildren, Darcy (Tanya) McDonald of White City, SK, Brent McDonald of Warman, SK, Ryan (Jennifer) Tyshynski of Red Deer, AB, Aaron (Crystal) Tyshynski of Blackfalds, AB, Whitney Tyshynski of Sherwood Park, AB; nine great-grandchildren, Marisa McDonald of Toronto, ON, Landon McDonald of Prince Albert, SK, Surrie and Roca of Warman, SK, Nicklaus Bangert, Sullivan, and Emmett of Red Deer, AB, Maya and Aaden of Blackfalds, AB; one sister-in-law, France (William Jr.) Shinkaruk of Prince Albert, SK.
Mom was predeceased by her father, William Shinkaruk in 1973; her first husband, Dmytro Tyshynski in 1974; her mother, Mary Shinkaruk in 1999; her second husband, Mike Papp in 2002; her daughter, Bernice (née Tyshynski) McDonald in 2012; her daughter-in-law, Catherine Suchorab in 2024; her nine brothers, John, Mike, Isadore, Steve, Edward, Stanley, Theodore, William Jr., and George Shinkaruk; one sister, Jean (née Shinkaruk) Seaborn; five sisters-in-law, Violet (John), Nora (Isadore), Catherine (Edward), Gloria (Theodore), Tillie (Steve), Lois (Stanley); one brother-in-law, Brian (Jean) Seaborn.
Mom married her first husband Dmytro, and together they farmed ½ section of land in the Alveena, Cudworth area until a farm accident. They moved the family to Prince Albert where Dmytro worked at the stockyards, and mom worked at various downtown cafes until she got a job at the Holy Family Hospital in housekeeping until her retirement after 22 years. After Dmytro died, mom met and married Mike Papp, and she moved onto his farm in Meskinaw for several years, until they sold and bought a farm near Spruce Home. Together they built a house there and farmed until Mike became ill and they moved to Prince Albert. After Mike passed away, mom moved to Northcott Manor Seniors Highrise on the 14th floor. Because of her fear of heights, she wouldn’t go near the windows, but after a while she overcame her fear and enjoyed the view from her windows.
Through her life, mom enjoyed farming and especially gardening. She enjoyed sewing, knitting, embroidery, baking, and housekeeping. To keep her mind active and alert, she took up senior art therapy, paint by number, jigsaw puzzles, word search, colouring, and arts and crafts. To stay active, she joined the Seniors Bowling League at the Minto Bowl, and bowled once a week until she became too weak from her illness. Last December she managed to go on one last trip to visit her grandchildren and great-grandchildren in Alberta. Mom had a happy go lucky attitude and a love for life by living one day at a time as best as she could.
