UPDATED WITH SERVICE INFORMATION
Annabelle (Belle) Esther Macfie
October 22, 1956 – April 25, 2025
The family of Annabelle Macfie are heartbroken to announce her sudden passing on April 25, 2025 at the age of 68. Belle was the second child born to Jean and Wesley Macfie and grew up on a farm near Crystal Springs, SK. She attended Dixon Lake School in Crystal Springs and graduated in 1974. After graduation she moved to Saskatoon and started on her career in retail. She worked at many retail stores in her lifetime, enjoying the lumber and hardware businesses the most. She knew her products very well and would go out of her way to help customers.
In 1985 she became a very proud mother when her son Damien was born. After a few years she was a single mom and decided to make a new start for herself and young son by moving to Whitehorse, Yukon. Dad helped pack her car and off they went! She loved the north and everything it had to offer; nature and observing wildlife, especially bald eagles and other birds, fishing, hiking. She also enjoyed rockhounding and driving the backroads.
Belle continued her career in retail and expanded into working with youth at group homes and also worked at RCMP cells as a guard. In 2010 her world was almost shattered when Damien was in a serious car accident and sustained a brain injury. True to Belle’s nature, she learned everything she could about brain injury and ways to help him. They moved back to Prince Albert in 2013 where she became involved with Saskatchewan Brain Injury Association and sought to educate as many people as possible on head injuries. She was an active member of SBIA and attended the Fall and Spring Retreats, Brain Boogies and other events. She was so proud of Damien and how far he came in his recovery.
She worked at various locations for the 12 years she was in Prince Albert making lifelong friends along the way. She enjoyed reconnecting with classmates from high school. She regularly attended the Dixon Lake School Friends coffee afternoons each year and her 1974 class reunions.
Belle loved life and was a friend to all who knew her. She was kind, nonjudgmental and accepting of all. She enjoyed talking to people and getting to know them. Damien and her family were very important to her. She enjoyed all family gatherings, sitting around talking, reminiscing, telling stories and laughing. She was usually the photographer at these events and has so many photos! These gatherings will not be as much fun without her. We will miss her dearly.
Left to cherish Belle’s memory are: her son Damien; her mother Jean Macfie; her sister Marion (Weldon) Demmings; her brothers Elston Macfie and Billy (Elana) Macfie; her nieces and nephews; Ron (Alisha) Demmings, their children Wesley, Stanley and Maisey; Dana (Ryan) Demmings; Derek (Larissa) Macfie, their children Sophia and Liam; Brittany (Jessie) Fehr and Camryn Macfie. She will also be remembered by her uncles Arleigh (Annelle) Johnstone, Clifford Johnstone, aunt Ethel Macfie and many cousins and friends.
Belle was predeceased by her father, Wesley Macfie; her grandparents, Edith and Ed Macfie, Annabelle and Bill Johnstone and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
There will be a gathering at Carlton Park Hall, 3100 Dunn Dr. Prince Albert, SK. Friday, May 30, 2025, at 2:00 pm, where we can share our memories and stories of Belle. Dress is very informal (for girls and women, bra optional lol).
