André Victor Gignac passed away on January 24, 2026, in The Villages, Florida, surrounded by the love of his family.
André was born on July 11, 1958, in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan, to Lucien Gignac and Therése Gignac (Roussel).
André grew up on the farm near Albertville, Saskatchewan, attending elementary school in Albertville, high school in St. Louis, Gravelbourg and Prince Albert. As a young adult, he began his career as an electrician and a jail guard, but the majority of his career, until retirement, he spent farming both cattle and grain with his brother Léo at Gignac Farms.
After retiring to Florida, André embraced every day to the fullest. He spent his time with his wife and best friend, Nanci Bauer, travelling across to the US and back to Saskatchewan in the summers, watching sports, playing golf and pickleball, enjoying early-morning coffee with the “Coffee Crew” at Dunkin’, and doing what he loved most, visiting with friends and family. His social calendar was always full, a testament to the many people who cherished his company. André’s greatest joy in life was his daughters, Paige and Jillian. He taught them how to play soccer, throw a baseball, skate, and drive a standard transmission. He loved teasing them about the weather in Saskatchewan versus Florida and never missed a chance to ask them to come visit. He also enjoyed spending time with Nanci’s son Ryan and grandchildren Miles and Liza. They introduced André to the Big Apple (New York City). They spent many holidays in the Villages riding golf carts, listening to live music in the square, and swimming in the pool.
André is survived by his daughters Paige Gignac (Jason Lopinski), Jillian Pascuzzi (Adam Pascuzzi), step-son Ryan Greer, step-grandchildren Miles and Liza Greer, his mother Thérèse Gignac, his siblings Victor (Mag), Denise (Marcel), Claire (Craig), Jeanne (Normand), Léo (Louise), Marc (Kathy), Henri (Donna), Cécile (Ed) and many cherished nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his wife Nanci Bauer, his father Lucien Gignac, his sister Agnès (Kat) Zubiak.
A celebration of life will be held in Florida and in Saskatchewan, with details to be shared with friends and family at dates to be determined.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or Big Brothers, Big Sisters.
