Amanda Lee Ganes
March 19, 1988 – October 18, 2024
Amanda was not just my older sister, she was my best friend, my other half, my person. She was always there to listen without judgment, not just for me but for anyone. She was such a kind soul and would help anyone she could.
We grew up on the farm outside of Birch Hills, SK. As kids we spent a lot of time with family and enjoying the outdoors. Amanda loved riding bikes, playing baseball and curling. Her fast pitch team was three times Provincial Champions. She also curled on a high school team for four years and played in Provincial playdowns.
She was very creative and loved expressing herself through her many hair colors. She loved creating her Halloween costumes to be over the top! She would always say Halloween was her favorite holiday, which I would always argue the Halloween was technically not a holiday. Her costumes always turned out to be extraordinary but always took about 2 hours longer than expected and would end up almost in tears when I would help her peel it off her face.
Being from Saskatchewan of course she was a Riders fan. She had a Rough Rider tattoo and always cheered hard for them. I explained how the game actually worked many times, which I don’t think she ever actually understood, but she loved them nonetheless.
I hope she knows how many people she impacted, how many people she helped and how truly loved she really was. I’ve been struggling with how to say goodbye to someone I’ve had with me my whole life but I’ve realized we are actually just say see you again one day.
Celebration of life will be held on July 12, 2025 – 11:00 AM at Christ Alone Lutheran Brethren Church, Birch Hills, SK
Arrangements in care of Mackenzie Funeral Chapel & Crematorium, Mark & Pedro Gyoerick, Mel & Troy Curle, & Jordyn Jacobson. 306 763 8488.
