Alvie Bonderud
(August 28, 1942 – July 15, 2011)
Alvie Irene Bonderud (Phoenix) was born to Alvin and Annie Phoenix on August 28, 1942. She went to public school at Kew Gardens School and went to Pleasantdale for high school. On July 20,1964, she married Don Bonderud, and they lived in Pleasantdale where Alvie worked in the Co-op Store and sometimes helped at the post office. Then they moved to Lac Vert where they ran the local garage. While in Lac Vert, their son, Doug was born. Alvie worked at the Pleasantdale School for many years and worked one year in the school in Naicam before retiring.
Alvie loved animals (especially cats), fishing, reading, photography, studying books about nature and working on the family history (genealogy).
Alvie died of cancer on July 15, 2011 at the Melfort Hospital. She was predeceased by her husband Don, her son Doug, her dad Alvin and Don’s parents. She is survived by daughter-in-law Crystal, her mom Annie, brother Vernal (Rita) Phoenix and their children Janet and Aaron, sister Myra, (Dwight) Bonderud, sisters and brothers-in-law, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and a new generation of history makers in great nieces and great nephews.
Funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 23, 2011 at Lac Vert Community Hall, Lac Vert, SK. Pastor Paul Breiter will officiate.
