Allan Sanderson passed away peacefully at the Victoria Hospital on Tuesday, January 12, 2016 at the age of 77. Al is survived by his wife June (nee Morgan); his three children Kelly Lloyd (Ed), Kim Toner (Todd) and Kurt (Shelley); 10 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren; his brothers Murray (Loy), Aaron (Sheila), Calvin (Valerie) as well as nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents Russel “Buster” and Mary “Edna” (nee Thompson) Sanderson; his mother-in-law and father-in-law Lorene (nee Flynn) and Charles Morgan. He was born on September 10, 1938 in Rosetown, SK. Al met June in Kindersley, SK and they were married on February 28, 1962. Together with their three children they moved to Prince Albert in 1968, where he was hired at the Prince Albert Pulp Mill. He achieved his Power Engineering and Electrical certificates in his 30 year career there. Al was talented in many trades and he used his skills to build the family cabin at Candle Lake where they spent every summer as the kids grew up. He was a talented diver and hockey player with the Kindersley Klippers and the Burn’s Kings in Prince Albert. He passed on his skills coaching minor hockey for the East End Community Club. Al enjoyed his retirement fishing, golfing and loved woodwork in his garage, building items to give to his children and grandchildren. The family would like to thank Dr. Gordon Surkan, the staff of Mont St. Joseph Care Home and the staff of level 5 at the Victoria Hospital for all the care and compassion giving to Al. Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, January 20 at Calvary United Church, 114 – 25 Street East, Prince Albert. Reverend Nora Vedress will be the officiant. Interment will take place at Prince Albert Memorial Gardens at a later date. It is the family’s request that in lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Alzheimer Society of Saskatchewan, 301 – 2550 – 12 Avenue, Regina, SK S4P 3X1 www.alzheimer.sk.ca.
