It is with great sadness that our family announces the peaceful passing of our beloved mother Alice June Lepp at the Birchview Home in Birch Hills, SK at the age of 90 years. She was born in Tisdale, SK. She was the youngest child of Ford and Alice Hockey. In her younger years, June lived in several locations.
June married Robert (Bob) Lepp on June 15th, 1951. They lived and farmed the Lepp Homestead south of Smeaton, SK, until their retirement. They raised their four children during this time. June always had a large garden, which supplied the family, many relatives, and friends with fresh vegetables.
June had many jobs over the years, besides helping Dad with the farm. She worked at the Smeaton Hospital as a nurse’s aide prior to her marriage. She was a cook at Smeaton Service, then went on to work at the Smeaton Co-op from which she retired. June enjoyed caring for others. She received First Aid training through St. John Ambulance.
June and Bob moved to Birch Hills to enjoy their retirement years. Dad enjoyed tinkering with his Model A car, while Mom was always on the go, having coffee and visiting with her good neighbor and friend Florence. She also became a member of the Ladies Auxillary at Birchview Home.
June enjoyed visiting with family and friends, always ready for a cup of tea. She had a great sense of humor, and a quick wit, and loved to have fun. She enjoyed playing cards and was a terrific cook & baker, especially her bread and buns.
Mom was a big Toronto Blue Jays and Curling fan. She enjoyed time spent camping at Lower Fishing Lake and then Little Bear Lake, where Dad had built a cabin. They did some traveling and ventured down to New Mexico to see the Grand Canyon, Four Corners, and many other areas of the Southwest. They went to Maine and had a driving adventure to New Brunswick, PEI, Nova Scotia, Cape Breton, and Peggy’s Cove.
Alice June was survived by her son Allan (Denise) Lepp, granddaughter Katelin Lepp of Prince Albert, SK; her daughters Maureen Reid of Prince Albert, SK, Lynda Lepp (Howard Rennis) of Albuquerque, New Mexico, Sharon Lepp (Sam Goldstein) of Carrabassett Valley, Maine; her nieces Shona (Terry) Willness and family of Smeaton, SK, Nadine (Todd) Palidwar and family of Smeaton, SK, Lisa Hockey of Kelowna, BC; her nephews Wayne Lepp and family of Aurora, ON, Bob Lepp and family of Aurora, ON; her sister-in-law Dot Lepp of Aurora, ON; her brother-in-law Peter MacKay of Nanaimo, BC.
