ALICE EUNICE MARDELL
(1942-2013)

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Alice Mardell of Blairmore, AB. She passed away on September 9, 2014 at the age of 72 years.
Alice was born on February 3, 1942 in Smeaton, Saskatchewan to proud parents, Mike and Helen Kuchirka. She was raised in a humble three room home and learned to be grateful for life’s blessings and to treat others with respect and kindness. Though challenging, Alice appreciated the traditional values this instilled and the home she created was nothing less than wonderful.
Alice had many interests and hobbies and loved to work with her hands whether it be making gingerbread, painting Easter eggs, quilting, crocheting, cross-stitching, or woodworking. She also enjoyed gardening, wildlife and the great outdoors.
Alice was a generous and compassionate lady who always helped those in need. She was a great listener and supportive of her family and friends. Her wise words of “this too shall pass” demonstrated her patience and caring for each of us. Alice’s positive attitude and giving spirit was an inspiration to all who knew her. She will be missed.
Left to mourn her passing and celebrate her life include her son, Faron Mardell; her grandchildren, Kirsti Mardell, Jason Cyprien, Ryan Mardell and Cassandra Allenby; her great grandchildren, Lincoln, Quinton and Stephanie Cyprien; as well as the many friends she made throughout her life.
She was predeceased by her husband, Edward Mardell in 2006; and her daughter, Allison Mardell in 2012.
A Memorial Service honouring Alice was held on Thursday, September 11, 2014 at 11:00am at Fantin’s Funeral Chapel (13461, 20 Ave., Blairmore, AB) with Rev. Renso Castellarin officiating.
