January 6, 1962 – August 18, 2016
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Alice Denise Brown (nee Boucher) on August 18, 2016 at the young age of 54. She passed very peacefully with family by her side. Alice has battled with cancer for over 15 years and managed to beat it the first time. As cancer tends to do, it came back and she was re-diagnosed with stage four breast cancer in April 2010 and fought a very long, difficult but courageous battle up until her passing. Alice was a very special gift right from the beginning, born to Carmen and Laurent Boucher on January 6, 1962 and grew up in St. Louis, SK. Her parents were told they would never bear children so they adopted two girls and were surprised when they became pregnant with Alice. She will be remembered for her huge heart, strength, determination, independence and admirable courage. Alice worked for 29 years with the Prince Albert Parkland Health Region. She truly loved her job and made many lifelong friends through her employment. Alice’s greatest pride and joy were her two daughters Rachel and Meagan whom she raised on her own and made many sacrifices to make sure her girls were well taken care of. Anyone who knew Alice knew that she would always put everyone else’s needs ahead of her own and never asked for anything in return. Alice married the love of her life, Duane, in July 2003. He has been very dedicated, supportive and stood by her side through her very difficult journey with cancer. Alice had a very special bond with her grandkids and they were one of the biggest highlights of her life. The family would like to extend a huge thank you to the staff in ICU at the Victoria Hospital for their exceptional care and compassion and also thank you to Dr. Cantin for years of great care. Alice is survived by her husband Duane Brown of Prince Albert, SK; her daughters Rachel Boucher (Rick Wasutyk) of Prince Albert, SK and Meagan (Stephen) Schmitz of Prince Albert, SK; her grandchildren Connor and Abby Wasutyk; sisters Louise (Claude) Tournier of St. Louis, SK and Lucille (Doug) Tetarenko of St. Louis, SK; her brother Gord Boucher of Saskatoon, SK; her brother-in-law Ron (Diane) Brown of MacDowall, SK and sister-in-law Joanie Brown of Cochrane, AB; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She was predeceased by her parents, Carmen and Laurent Boucher; her in-laws Vernon and Valerie Brown and brother-in-law Orvil Brown. A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 24, 2016 at St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church, 260 – 25th Street East, Prince Albert, SK with Pastor Dennis Serfas officiating. A private burial will take place at a later date. In lieu of other tributes, donations can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, 54 – 11th Street East, Prince Albert, SK S6V 0Z9.
