Alfred Phaneuf, beloved husband of Jeannine Phaneuf of Prince Albert, SK passed away peacefully on Monday, July 9, 2012 at the Victoria Hospital at the age of 86. Alfred is survived by his loving wife of 62 years of marriage Jeannine (née Dupuis); his son Lynn (Louise) Phaneuf and daughters Renée and Denise; his daughter Cheryl (Brian) Farnham and children Ashley and Andria; his son Duane (Cheryl) Phaneuf and children Daniel, Colin and Christina; his son Kevin (Loralie Shinkaruk) Phaneuf; his brothers Lionel (Florence) and Edward (Rose-Marie) Phaneuf; his sisters Lillian (Joe Fauchoux) and Rita (Ben Habetler) and Thérèse Carrier as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents Romeo and Evelina (née Lebrecque); his brother Albert; his sister-in-law Ella (Albert) and his brother-in-law Don Carrier. Alfred was born in rural Saskatchewan in August, 1925. He left the family farm to further his education and become a teacher. He retired after 37 years of teaching in various communities in Saskatchewan including Henribourg and Wakaw with the majority of his career in Prince Albert at Riverside Collegiate Institute and Carlton Comprehensive High School. His greatest joy in life was spending time with family. His summers were spent at the cabin in Waskesiu where he spent his time golfing, fishing and visiting with family and friends. A Celebration of his Life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 12 from River Park Memorial Chapel. Father Maurice Fiolleau will officiate. Interment of cremated remains will take place at a private family gathering, at a later date.
