Alexandre William Bouchard, late of Prince Albert, SK, passed away on Friday, March 11, 2022 in Prince Albert, SK at 81 years of age.
Born and raised in Radville, SK, that’s where Alex enjoyed his first work experience at the market garden and grocery store (where he first met Bettye). He enjoyed the movie theatre (Westerns), experiencing many outdoor adventures, and crowding around a neighbour’s TV. He moved on as an uncle’s farm hand, then travelling salesman. He married the true love of his life in 1966 and started a family. Alex took a job with the Credit Union, moving to three communities in Alberta and Saskatchewan, and then retiring for 20 years in Prince Albert where he passed peacefully in his sleep.
Alex embraced community volunteer roles, including long-time service with the Knights of Columbus, and was nationally recognized for his humanitarian contributions with Corrections Canada. He was generous with his time and quick to gently share an encouraging word. Over the years, Alex enjoyed hobby farming, fishing, large-scale gardening, old-time country and gospel music, playing cards, making stews, putting another log on the campfire, and sharing lots of laughs with sharp one-liners down the bumpy road of life. His laugh is dearly treasured and missed.
Alex is survived by his cherished wife of 55 years, Bettye; son, daughter-in-law and grandchildren, Bruce (Wanda), Russell and Kate; his siblings, Irene, Rita, Jeanne, Aurlie, Ken and Joanne; nephews and nieces, among other beloved family and friends.
He was predeceased by his daughter, Tricia; and 3 children in infancy; his parents, Bill and Yvonne; his siblings, Rose and Ellen.
Funeral Mass will be held at 2:00 PM on Thursday, March 17, 2022 at Sacred Heart Cathedral – 1401-4th Avenue West, Prince Albert, SK. The family requests that everyone attending kindly wear a mask for the funeral. The service will be livestreamed and a recording will also be available to view at https://youtu.be/HWK6VietWqY
