With saddened hearts we regretfully announce the peaceful passing of a loving husband, father, brother, and friend to all. Alex Denesyk was born in Prince Albert on February 28, 1936, the only member of his family to be born in a hospital. He worked as a welder on the Diefenbaker bridge and was a master of many skills including painting, carpentry, plumbing and electrical. On October 30, 1965 he married Geraldine. They lived and farmed on his Dad’s homestead in Samburg, raising purebred Black Angus cattle and cash crop farming. Alex took many agriculture, machining and farm management classes and used this knowledge, talents and skills to build shops, farm equipment and hopper bottom bins. He served as Reeve of the RM of Garden River, was on the board of David and Meath Park schools, as well as many other committees. He enjoyed having coffee with his friends and reading The Western Producer. You could usually find him working in his heated shop fixing machinery, building things and helping out his friends and neighbours. He will be deeply missed by his beloved wife of fifty years, Geraldine (nee Savisky); daughter Kathy Denesyk Penford (Dan); sisters Mary Suchorab and Pauline Paskaruk (Peter); his mother-in-law Suzy Savisky, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents John G. and Sally Denesyk; his beloved son Kevin; his brothers Nick, George, Jim, Mike and Andrew and his sister Isobel. We would like to thank Dr. Surkan, Dr. Switzer and the staff of the 6th floor at the Victoria Hospital for their care and compassion, and also the special caregivers at Mont St. Joseph who looked after Alex. As well, we would like to thank all the family and friends who lent their support at this time. Funeral Service will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, November 7, 2015 at the Crossroads Pentecostal Assembly, 1510 Olive Diefenbaker Drive, Prince Albert, SK with Pastor Ches Jacobs officiating. Interment will be held at Prince Albert Memorial Gardens. In lieu of other tributes, memorial donations to Mont St. Joseph Foundation, 777 – 28th Street East, Prince Albert, SK S6V 8C2 or to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, 1738 Quebec Avenue, Unit 26, Saskatoon, SK S7K 1V9 would be appreciated.
