(July 22, 1925 – August 20, 2011)
PETERSON, Alden Lloyd – passed away on August 20, 2011 at the age of 86, at Melfort Hospital. Lloyd was born on July 22, 1925 on the Peterson farm by LacVert, Saskatchewan. His parents were Pete and Dora Peterson; siblings were Richard, Ronald, Robert and Barney. Lloyd married Catherine Eleanor Fisher on June 27, 1959. They were then blessed with three children: Carl Richard, Kenneth William and Karen Louise.
Lloyd spent most of his years farming the family farm, until he semi-retired in the mid-90's. After that, he continued to help the neighbours farm, when he could. Lloyd loved animals and over the years had cattle, pigs, chickens, dogs, cats, etc. He spent many hours volunteering as a hockey coach. He served as secretary/treasurer of the Anglican Church at LacVert as well as treasurer of the Snowplow Club in addition to helping out with other community groups.
He enjoyed reading, cross-country and downhill skiing, walking, riding his motorbike, competing in threshing contests and playing softball. He was gifted musically and played both the guitar and harmonica. This talent landed him a gig with the Ketilson and Co. Band, with whom he performed for many years, touring and entertaining at many senior centres.
Lloyd was predeceased by his parents, Pete and Dora; siblings, Richard, Ron, Barney and Bob; and grandson Dylan. He is survived by his wife Ellie; sisters-in-law, Kay Peterson and Edna Peterson; children, Carl (Shelley) Peterson, Ken (Linda) Peterson and Karen (Russ) MacNutt; grandchildren, Melissa (Dave) Flach, Sheena (Brendon) Nystuen and Sarah Harper; great-grandchild Aubrey Nystuen; several nieces, nephews, cousins and numerous friends.
