Albert Norman Henderson
1934 – 2025
Norman Henderson was born on May 26, 1934. He passed away at the age of 90 years, on January 2, 2025 at the Herb Bassett Home; after about a 3-year battle with Dementia and other illnesses.
He is survived by his wife, Myrna Henderson (nee Brown); his son, Troy Henderson, and his daughter Lee Ann Henderson (Charles Merasty); he is also survived by his sister, Betsy Henderson. Norman had 3 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. He will be lovingly remembered by his nieces, nephews and in laws.
Norman was born on the Montreal Lake Cree Nation, and enjoyed fishing, trapping, country music and driving his truck long distances to Pow Wows and Veteran’s and other First Nations meetings.
He joined the Canadian army at a young age and went to Germany post war. In later years, he became involved with Veterans and helping find markers for First Nations graves.
Norman held various positions for the Montreal Lake Cree Nation, always trying to improve conditions for others. He served as a band councilor for the Montreal Lake Cree Nation (1963-1965, 1968-1970, 1970-1971, 1972-1974). He was also integral to the MLCN Elders Council, Kitaskinaw Steering Committee and the T6A Committee; and a member of the Saskatchewan First Nations Veterans Association (SFNVA).
The Wake Service will commence at 7:oo PM, Wednesday, January 8, 2025 at the St. Joseph Anglican Church in Montreal Lake, SK.
The Wake Service will continue in Prince Albert, SK at 7:00 PM on Thursday, January 9, 2025 at the PAGC Urban Services (1211 1st Avenue West, Prince Albert).
The Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, January 10, 2025 at the PAGC Urban Services (1211 1st Avenue West, Prince Albert).
Burial will follow in the Field of Honor Veteran’s Section at South Hill Cemetery, Prince Albert, SK.
