Albert James Silde passed away peacefully at the Birchview Nursing Home, Birch Hills, SK on August 23, 2014 at the age of 90 years, with his niece Donna at his side. Albert was born in the Fisher District on June 13, 1924, he also attended Fisher school. The Silde family lived in the Fisher and Lake Park Districts as well as Birch Hills, SK. Albert began farming with his brothers Ralph and Henry. He married Elsie Ham on November 24, 1951 and they moved north of Weldon where they farmed together for 46 years. He also raised dairy cattle and pigs. Albert and Elsie retired to Birch Hills in 1997. Albert was a member of the New Life Centre in Weldon and later the Glad Tidings Tabernacle in Birch Hills. Albert enjoyed family gatherings and always took an interest in his nieces and nephews lives. Due to failing health, Albert moved to the Birchview Nursing Home where he was a resident for almost four years. Albert will always be remembered for his kind and gentle spirit. Albert quietly lived his life honoring his Lord and Savior. “Well done good and faithful servant.” Albert will be lovingly remembered by his sisters-in-law Anna Silde and Bernice Silde, numerous nieces and nephews, as well as a special family friend, Fred Welch. He was predeceased by his wife Elsie (Ham), his parents Dora and Martin Silde, his brothers Ralph (Ruth) Silde, Henry Silde and Conrad Silde, his sisters Mavis (Harry) Fagrie and Esther (Gordon) Richardson, his sister-in-law and brother-in-law Annie and Floyd Hunt, as well as 2 nieces and a nephew. Albert’s family would like to thank the staff at the Birchview Nursing Home for the excellent care he received during his time there. In lieu of floral tributes, memorial donations may be made to the Birchview Nursing Home Auxiliary Box 578 Birch Hills, SK SOJ OGO or a charity of the donor’s choice. The Funeral Service will be conducted on Tuesday, August 26, 2014 at 2:00 PM in the Birch Hills Lutheran Church with Pastor Rod Gabriel officiating.
