Albert Irving Clark Sorenson

1934 – 2013
Albert was born on May 12th 1934 in Regina, Saskatchewan. Albert passed away quietly on June 11, 2013 at 3:00 am at Woodland Manor in Hay River, North West Territories. Albert was a member of the Princess Patricia's Canadian Light Infantry, where he served as a paratrooper and sniper for 5 years. At the end of this service he moved to Virden, Manitoba, where he worked as a mechanic. On August 15th 1953, Albert married Ellen Alene Wadham. Alene, as she is known, accompanied Albert on a Peace Keeping Mission to Germany in 1956. At this time the couple had the first two of their children: Franklin, who was born in 1953, was 2 years old and Marilyn, born in 1955 was just a few months old. The couple travelled throughout their marriage, and lived in many places throughout northern Canada. To name a few of these places, in 1957, they were living in Birch Hills, Saskatchewan where their third child Ellen was born. In 1962 they lived in Dawson Creek, B.C. and had Rita there. They moved again to Terrace, B.C. where Karen was born in 1963. The couple then moved to Kemano, British Columbia, where Albert worked for Al-can Aluminum. In 1968 the sixth and final child, Lynda, was born in Kitimat BC. In 1969 Albert moved his family to Whitehorse, Yukon Territory, they spent three years here as a family. In 1972, Albert moved on his own to Yellowknife, North West Territories. He resided there until he moved to Woodland Manor in Hay River, North West Territories. Albert lived out his final six years here. Albert leaves behind: his previous wife: Alene Wadham Sorenson Kivimaki; his six children: Franklin John Sorenson, Marilyn Joyce Watts, Ellen Louise Morris, Rita Joan Payea, Karen Jenny Rabuka and Lynda Marie Sorenson. His grandchildren: Roberta Poole, Valour Hermanson, Phira Hermanson, John Watts, Wayne Doonan, Yvonne Germain, Lawrence Payea, Kassandra Payea, Nicolas Lindsay, Kayla Lindsay, Kyle Rabuka and Shaylene Sorenson. Albert also leaves behind 20 great grandchildren. Albert is predeceased by his father: John Sorenson; his mother: Reta Clark- Sorenson: and his brothers: Peter and Godfred. Albert will be missed. A Funeral Service will be held at St. Mary's Anglican Church, Birch Hills, Saskatchewan on July 31, 2013. An interment service will follow at St Saviors Cemetery, Birch Hills, Saskatchewan, after which a luncheon and a celebration of his life will commence at St Mary’s Anglican Church.
