Aimé Raymond Brassard
October 31, 1924 – July 11, 2011
Aimé passed away at the age of 86 years on July 11, 2011, at his residence, the Good Shepherd Villa with his family at his side.
He is survived by his sons; Herve (Rosemary) and children Zachary and McKenzie of Albertville; Raymond (Johanne) and children Cameron, Michelle and Alexander of Saskatoon; Norman (Marlene) and children Shanelle and Selena of Prince Albert; daughter Lauriane (Karl) Breker and child Aime of Humboldt; his sisters Marie-Jeanne Morin of San Diego; Therese Pellerin of Saskatoon; Lorette Carrier of Prince Albert; Josephine (Donat) Leduc of Albertville; his brothers Alfred (Gladys) of Edmonton; Maurice (Therese) of Abbotsford; Gilbert (Dorothy) of Parksville; and numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his wife Florence; parents Calixte and Josephine; brothers-in-law Francis Morin, René Pellerin, and Edward Carrier.
Aimé was born and raised in Albertville on the family farm. He joined the army in 1943, and was deployed overseas and served with Second Division of South Saskatchewan Regiment, Regina Rifles Regiment and The Army of Occupation until 1946 when he was discharged. He spent a considerable amount of time after the war in sanitariums after contracting tuberculosis.
He returned to Albertville in 1947, worked on the farm with his father and found various employment in the area. In 1957 he married his love Florence, and purchased their farm north of Albertville. They were a devoted loving couple, rarely apart. Working side by side they built up their farm and created a future for themselves and their children. They enjoyed country drives, sightseeing and travelling together. But by far their favorite memories were of time spent with family and friends. By 1991 they had retired and moved to Prince Albert.
In 2006 after the death of his wife he moved into the Good Shepherd Villa. Throughout the last 5 years, while facing numerous health related problems, Dad was always optimistic, facing every challenge with courage and dignity. He will be remembered and admired for his compassion, his openness and good-willed nature. A kinder and truer father could not be had. We could only hope he knew how much he touched our lives and how much we all loved him.
