Agnes Marie Grosskleg
March 15, 1926 – May 2, 2021
Agnes Grosskleg passed away peacefully at home with her family by her side, after a brief illness, at the end of a long and happy life.
Agnes is survived by her sons: James Henry (Elly), Robert Paul (JoAnne), and William Gordon (Brenda), her grandchildren Ryan (Jen), Jay (Marina), Erin (Shawn), and Brian (Jess), her step-grandchildren Michelle and Travis, her great-grandchildren, her sister-in-law Freda Paul, and many nieces, nephews, neighbours and friends.
She is predeceased by her husband of 71 years, Gordon, her parents Alec and Hulda (Leland) Paul, her brothers Donald (Betty) Paul, and Leland Paul, and her sister, Gladys (Ross) Giles.
Mom always enjoyed volunteer work! Whether she was helping lift the spirits of the folks living in our nursing homes, with the music of “Agnes and the Happy Gang”, or helping at church, Mom always found a way to contribute to the greater good.
During her working career, she taught in the Prince Albert Public School system, where she made many lifelong friends! Her love of music was evident as she taught music lessons to neighbourhood children and played many instruments, usually by ear. She always enjoyed baking, and there was always a cup of coffee and a doughnut or a cookie, for anyone who might stop by for a visit!
Our family owned a cabin at Wadin Bay on Lac La Ronge, and for over 50 years, Mom and Dad and the kids and grandkids made all sorts of wonderful memories there.
Our family would like to thank the staff of Prince Albert Home Care for the outstanding services they provided to Mom, as she faced her last battle here on earth. They met all of Mom’s needs, and then some! Thank you for your help and genuine concern for Mom’s well being.
There will be no funeral at this time, at Agnes’s request. A private family memorial will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers or other tributes, Agnes’s family would welcome donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, #26, 1738 Quebec Avenue, Saskatoon, S7K 1V9, or Diabetes Canada, #104, 2301 Avenue C North, Saskatoon S7L 5Z5, or a charity of the donor’s choice.
