Adele Sokolowski

Sadly, on Tuesday, December 20, 2016, Mrs. M. Adele Sokolowski late of Shellbrook, passed away in the Victoria Union Hospital at the age of 83 years. Adele was born July 5,1933 at Abbey, SK. to Wilhelm and Marie Peterson. Adele started school in Abbey, SK. and took three grades of High School at LCBI in Outlook, SK. She graduated from Nursing in 1955 at the Royal Vic in Montreal. She came back to SK. to nurse in Swift Current, the University Hospital in Saskatoon and then to work in Indian Health in La Ronge. After several years in the north she transferred to Shellbrook. After the children were older she went back to work for the province as a Public Health nurse and retired in 1990. Adele loved her family, playing card games, music and singing. When her grandchildren started into music she tried her best to get to as many recitals as she could often taking the bus to Edmonton. She loved her garden especially her flowers. She was happy when friends would drop in for coffee, cards and meals. Adele loved her bible, reading it every day before breakfast, faithfully. She was always ready to help anyone needing help. She was very compassionate, caring and loving. Adele will be greatly missed.
Adele will be lovingly remembered by; her husband, Ed Sokolowski, her daughter, Colleen of Red Deer, AB, her son, Jim (Carol) Sokolowski and their children, Teresa, Amanda and Doug of Edmonton, AB., a brother, Jack (Dorothy) Peterson of Regina, SK., her step-mom, Phyl Peterson of Kelowna, BC., and many cousins, nieces, nephews from New Brunswick to Vancouver Island and in the U.S. Adele was predeceased by; her parents, Bill and Marie Peterson, her in-laws, Alex and Zofia , Sokolowski her two brothers, Ron and Jim Peterson.
There will be a Memorial Service for Adele on January 14, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. in St. John’s Lutheran Church in Shellbrook, SK. with Pastor Trent Felstrom officiating. The Pianist will be Nicole Philp. The Eulogist will be Colleen Sokolowski and the Urnbearers will be Teresa, Amanda and Doug Sokolowski. Memorial donations in Adele’s memory may be made to the Shellbrook Senior Citizens Club or the Woodland Bus Fund.
