Best Funeral Director: Lorne Adams
Lorne Adams, funeral director at Beau ‘Lac’ Funeral Home in Prince Albert, says he found his calling when he changed careers from an STC bus manager to a funeral director.
He has lived in Prince Albert his whole life and says he feels closer to the community through his role helping people grieve. Adams said, “For me, it’s nice because I know most of the families pretty well. When they first come in I make sure I given them a hug and make sure everyone is relaxed and comfortable.”
Adams’ has always been a people person and has maintained strong relationships throughout Prince Albert and the surrounding area. “You have to be a good listener and speak from your heart, which I do,” said Adams. “I take pride in taking care of the families and treating everyone the way that I’d want to be treated. I expect support, compassion and a comfortable environment and that’s what I provide. I like helping people.”
His commitment to those who are grieving extends long past the time for arrangements. He’ll call families weeks after the service to check in and see how everyone is doing. “You spend so much time with them before the service and then that’s it, so it’s nice to phone and see how they’re doing,” Adams said. “Everybody’s different in how they handle grief – and for how long. It’s nice knowing there’s someone there to listen.”
