There is nothing better than the smell of fresh baked bread in the morning…or cookies…or cinnamon buns…or any sort of baking!

Freshness is guaranteed by BOB Award winner for ‘Best Bakery’ – Safeway.

Bakery Department Manager, Brian Randall said his crew provides more in-store fresh baking compared to the competition.

“We do a lot of scratch mixes too…where they [the competition] bring in a lot of frozen mixes,” Randall said.

The Safeway Bakery department maintains fresh products by ensuring nothing on the shelf is over two days old and their customer service is second to none. Some of the bakers and cake decorators have worked in the bakery for over 30 years. Randall himself has 37 years in the business.

“We have a lot of fun. That’s the main thing,” said Randall. “We have a job to do and we know that we’re doing something special for the customer…whether it is a birthday cake or buns for a wedding meal…we want it to perfection so its taken care of for our customers.”

In addition to a large selection of gluten free bread and pastries, some of the most popular items in the bakery include the fresh baked cookies and cakes that are made and decorated to order.

Store Manager, Wes Erlendson, said providing consistency to customers and have products in stock makes a big difference when it comes to service and satisfaction.

“Bread and bagels and artisan breads are all freshly baked daily,” Erlendson said.

 We’d be remiss if we didn’t talk specifically in this article about the donuts…you know, the ones with the maple glaze and bacon bits! Or the ones with M&M candies all over it!
