Bantam River Riders make KFL playoff history in comeback victory

Oct 21, 2018 | 6:07 PM

The Prince Albert Bantam River Riders made history on Sunday at Max Clunie Field.

Not only did they host the first ever Kinsmen Football League playoff game outside of Saskatoon, but they won it. They beat the Babineau Warriors 22-18 in a crazy comeback to win the Saskatoon Hilltops Bowl, the quarterfinal game of the KFL.

The River Riders faced an 18-0 deficit heading into the fourth quarter but stormed back in a big way, scoring three touchdowns in the final quarter to win. Ryan Adamko scored all three touchdowns for the River Riders, and also turned a low-snap on an extra point into a two-point conversion.

They will move on to the semifinals and face the second-ranked Ledingham Steelers next Sunday, 4 p.m. at the SaskTel Sports Centre in Saskatoon.
