Only time will tell if a Saskatoon Maple Leaf meat packing plant could be on the chopping block.
A Maple Leaf meat plant in Saskatoon's southwest industrial area is just one of many across Canada being looked at in an organizational review.
According to company spokesperson Linda Smith, the company wants to improve overall efficiency from plant to grocery store.
“Those analytics are being done now, we have no set timelines in which to make any changes,” she said.
Smith wouldn't say either way if Saskatoon's facility is a potential target for closure.
Like other Canadian food producers, Maple Leaf is facing higher commodity prices and a rising Canadian dollar.
