Men charged in Somali man’s highrise death remain in custody

Three men — Travis Clark, Preston Gamble, and Trevor Robbillard — will remain in custody after being arrested in the death of 20-year-old Somali man Ahmed Mohamud, who was found dead after falling from a downtown Saskatoon highrise in July.

The three each face charges of manslaughter, and robbery after police executed three search warrants on Thursday. The suspects were taken into custody after police showed up at homes in Sutherland, West View, and on the West Side.

All three suspects stood silent as the judge read out the charges. Clark entered the courtroom blowing a kiss to a young woman sitting in the gallery wiping tears streaming down her cheeks. Clark left the prisoners box flashing two fingers in the air. He will reappear in just less than two weeks.

Police say they have now made all of the five arrests they've been hoping to make in the case. They come nearly three months after Mohamud's lifeless body was found in the Dorchester Towers parking lot, which is next to Kinsman Park. Mohamud’s injuries were consistent with a fall, but a cause of death has not been released.

A 25-year-old woman also arrested during the search of one of the homes appeared on drug and weapons related charges. She requested special arrangements while in custody so she could breast feed her 10-month-old child.

She wept as the judge told her he says he realizes she's innocent until proven guilty. But, he scolded her for being in the position she's in and, at the same time, having a young baby.

Two others, Ryan Waddell and Malcolm Herman, were arrested earlier and have already appeared in court. They are also charged with manslaughter and robbery. They too remain in custody.

All five suspects are in their early to late 20's.
