The sudden death of a 17-year-old hockey player from Strasbourg has left the community in complete shock.
President of the Strasbourg Minor Hockey Association Scott Frizzell says Joel Thomson died in a Regina hospital after collapsing during a hockey practice in Strasbourg Thursday night.
“It's just really surreal. You hear about these stories happening, but you never think they're going to happen close to home,” said Frizzell.
Frizzell says all he knows is that Thomson collapsed 15 minutes in to practice, and someone had to perform CPR.
He's not commenting on whether the teen had any underlying health problems.
