Saskatchewan government and NDP come together to reject takeover of PotashCorp

The Saskatchewan government and NDP are united in saying no to BHP Billiton's bid for PotashCorp.

Both sides have unanimously voted to present a united front behind the government's takeover decision.

The NDP had wanted an amendment that Brad Wall and Dwain Lingenfelter should present that united front together in Ottawa, but Wall is wondering just how united it would be.

“It is difficult to envision much coming from a delegation that goes down to Ottawa if the NDP in this case is saying we are here to support the government's position even though we think it is a hissy fit, it just doesn't make a lot of sense,” said Wall.

However, Lingenfelter said his party supports saying no to BHP Billiton, and that is what is important.

Wall is hoping to head to Ottawa on Monday for a meeting with the Prime Minister and the Saskatchewan MPs. Despite the debate, Lingenfelter may go with him.
