Five people charged in connection to Regina counterfeit money ring

Five people from Regina have been charged in connection with a counterfeit money scheme.
Regina Police arrested three men and two women on Thursday after reports of fake money being used at a variety of businesses and financial institutions between Sept. 20 and Oct. 27.
“In total we received about $7,000 worth of counterfeit money,” said Elizabeth Popowich with the Regina Police. The bills ranged in value from $5 to $100.
Devon Shane Brehaut, Renee Erin Collin, Ashley Elizabeth Richards, Christopher Kenneth George Gibson and Shane Edward Hermann are facing a total of 41 charges relating to the creating the counterfeit cash. Some some of them are also facing additional charges involving firearms, drugs and assault.
A sixth person was taken into custody, but was released without charges.
All five adults made their first appearance in Regina Provincial Court Friday morning.
