Thieves targeting garages, sheds

Nov 9, 2010 | 4:03 PM

A series of weekend break-ins has prompted Prince Albert Police to remind the public to lock their sheds and garages.

A majority of the reported thefts came from the area in and around the 300 block of 11th St East.

Similar break-ins were also reported to police in the 1600 block of Olive Diefenbaker and the 800 block of Third Street East.

The thieves targeted easy to carry items, said Sgt. Kelly McLean during a police news conference on Tuesday.

“Golf clubs, tools – stuff that they seem to be able to pack out of there in a hurry,” he said.

McLean couldn't say for sure if the break-ins were connected.

“On the surface it would appear there are some very strong similarities,” said McLean.

He said it’s important for people to report even attempted thefts to help them track.

“We’re very interested in knowing about that – documenting that and being able to use that intelligence to track these people down,” he said.
