SIAST and SGEU agree on mediation date

Mediation talks will begin next week between SIAST and SGEU in the hopes of ending a long-standing labor dispute.

The two sides agreed on a mediator last week to restart contract negotiations, which broke down last month over wages.

Through that mediator, they have now agreed on Tuesday Dec. 21, as a start date for the process.

About 1600 SIAST unionized employees have been without a collective agreement since the last one expired in June 2009.
