Keeping the streets safe on New Year’s Eve

Dec 16, 2010 | 11:05 AM

One again Prince Albert will “Ding in the New Year”.

The Prince Albert Police Service and SGI are teaming up to provide free bus service on New Year’s Eve.

The program is very important, said Ron Bird, the Claims Manager at SGI.

“Last year, there were 135 alcohol-related collisions in Saskatchewan during the festive season — 54 injuries and four deaths resulted,” said Bird.

He encourages everyone to take advantage of the service and leave their keys at home.

“Whether you’re taking the family to see the festive lights, or you’re out celebrating, hop on the bus. By doing so, you’re keeping yourselves and our streets safer,” said Bird.

“The busses have regular routes in convenient locations all night long.”

The service runs from 7 p.m. to 3 a.m.
