Deciding which home for the holidays
Christmas is usually known as a time for loved ones and families to spend time together and share in holiday cheer.
But for split families, the holiday season can turn into a legal battle over who gets the children home for Christmas.
This time of year becomes increasingly busy for the courts, said Betty Anne Pottruff, executive director of policy, planning and evaluations for Saskatchewan Justice.
“It's not unusual for applications to come in to the courts that are brought forward because people are more anxious this time of the year than others to … resolve their custody and access issues,” said Pottruff.
