Wet snow makes for slippery Saskatchewan highways

The fresh snow blanketed Saskatchewan is making for some nasty conditions on many of the province's highways.

Amanda Meakin with the Highway Hotline says there's a lot of reduced visibility thanks to swirling snow, along with icy/slippery sections, loose snow and drifting snow.

There are also some areas that are also wet thanks to the mild temperatures we've been seeing the last two days. And as the temperature drops, it could freeze.

And, as always, the plows are out clearing the roads.

“They pull over every 10 kilometres or so to allow vehicles to pass,” she said. “Chances are if you're driving and you see a mini blizzard in front of you, chances are that's a snow plow. So we just ask everyone to stay back and just have patience with us.”

There are some tiny areas of good winter driving though from Osler to MacDowall north of Saskatoon. In the southeast, from Grenfell to Carlyle and in the southwest on Highway 1 from Gull Lake to the Alberta border, driving is clear as well.
