Call for Entry for Prince Albert and Area Artists

The Mann Art Gallery’s (formerly the Art Gallery of Prince Albert) is hosting its annual Winter Festival Juried Art Show – 2011, sponsored by Wilcox, Zuk, Chovin Law Office .

This is a Call for Entry . Drop off dates January 30 & January 31, 2011.

ELIGIBILITY:

Age of Artist: Entrants must be 18 years of age or older.
Number of Works: Entries are limited to two works per artist. Collaborations – 1 per artist/group.
Date of Artwork: Entries will be of recent date (made within the last two years) and not previously exhibited in the gallery.
Original Design: Entries will be the artist’s original design (no copies, reproductions, or commercial kits).
Ready to Install: Entries must be completed and ready for installation.  Frail or excessively heavy or poorly prepared works may be rejected.  Hanging hardware must be attached to 2 dimensional pieces.  PLEASE DO NOT ATTACH WIRE, STRINGS, ETC. TO THE HARDWARE. Hanging brackets are to be measured equal distances on R & L of piece.
Identification: Each entry must have attached the artist’s name, title (mandatory), date of completion, size, media and sale price if applicable.
Shipped Entries Not Accepted: Artwork must be delivered and unpacked; and picked up and repacked; in person, by the artist or their representative.  The name and phone number of this person must be listed on the entry form. Entries shipped by bus, mail or courier will not be accepted.  The gallery does not have space for packing materials; these must be taken away and brought back. Any materials left
will be disposed of.
Size Restriction: The gallery reserves the right not to exhibit works that exceed 3’ x 3’ for pieces hung outside the Main Gallery. All pieces Juried into the Main Gallery will be accommodated regardless of size.
                                                                

Entry Instructions
                                                                                   
Registration:   All entries must be delivered to the Mann Art Gallery 142 – 12   St., West, Prince Albert, SK on:   Sunday, January 30, 2011 – 1:00pm – 5:00pm or Monday, January 31, 2011 – 1:00pm – 5:00pm.
If, for extraordinary reasons, you cannot register at the appropriate time telephone the Gallery at 763-7080 before Wednesday, January 26, 2011. Entries will not be accepted after 5:00pm on Monday, January 31, 2011.
Pick-up:  Works not picked up can only be returned with a prior appointment.  Works must be picked up within a two-week period from the end of the appropriate show or they will be disposed of at the discretion of the gallery.
Studio/Foyer Exhibitions – Works not selected for the Juried Art Show will be displayed in the FRINGE and STUDIO galleries for a two week period from February 11 – February 25, 2011.  These pieces must be picked up on:   Sunday, February 27, 2011 – 1:00pm – 5:00pm  or Monday, February 28, 2011 – 1:00pm – 5:00pm.
Main Gallery – Works Juried into the Juried Art Show will be on display from February 11 – March 27, 2011.  These pieces must be picked up on:  Sunday, March 27, 2011 – 1:00pm – 5:00pm or Monday, March 28, 2011 – 1:00pm – 5:00pm.

JUROR – Sandra Fraser, Associate Curator, Mendel Art Gallery

Sandra Fraser joined the Mendel Art Gallery as Associate Curator, Extension Coordinator in early 2010. She is currently working on a number of exhibitions that explore cultural and social shifts in Saskatchewan. Previously she held the position of Curator at the MacLaren Art Centre  in Barrie, Ontario, where she oversaw a dynamic exhibition programme and the permanent collection, with a particular interest in local history and place, book culture, and political identity. Fraser has a Masters in Art History from York University, a certificate of Museum Management and Curatorship from Sir Sandford Fleming College, and a BA specializing in Art History from the University of Toronto. She has also taught Art History and Gallery Studies at Georgian College and served as the Programme Officer at the Ontario Association of Art Galleries.
