Landlord auctions jersey to help paralyzed woman

A signed Sidney Crosby jersey will make all the difference to a family during a difficult time.

Jessie Montgrand was paralyzed in a car accident on Christmas Eve and is now recovering at a hospital in Saskatoon.

Her family including stepdaughter, Mandy Montgrand, have spent hours driving back and forth to visit her.

“It’s stressful financially my getting here back and forth. We live in Turner Lake. That’s seven hours drive to come back here. That’s pretty stressful and to look at her is pretty stressful,” Montgrand said.

Jessie has a lot of broken bones with her neck, her vertebrate, her wrists, her leg her ankles, her ribs, said Montgrand.

So to help the family out with the finances, Jessie Montegrand’s landlord Jim Metz has decided to auction off his signed Crosby jersey.

“I just thought that was an opportunity to step up to the plate and do that. I’m sure if one of our family members was involved in this, I’m expecting that some community member would do the same for me,” Metz said.

Mandy Montgrand is grateful for what Metz is doing for her and her family.

“It opened up my eyes and I’ve never seen a person do that for us before.”

If you'd like to bid on the jersey, you can do so on the MBC website.
