Saskatchewan Watershed Authority releases first spring runoff forecast

Jan 27, 2011 | 3:09 PM

The Saskatchewan Watershed Authority has released its first spring runoff forecast and there is little surprise there will be some major trouble spots.

The areas with highest potential for runoff is the southwest corner, and a large area stretching from central to eastern Saskatchewan and south to an area near Weyburn.

Essentially the land that saw the majority of flooding last year. Simply put that excess water hasn't gone anywhere.

“The water levels in say the Assiniboine, and in Good Spirit and most of the eastern creeks and tributaries, they're all still flowing.” said John Fahlman of the Sask Watershed Authority.
