What is This? We Have an Answer!

We have found out what our curler was used for!
Thanks to a retired hairdresser we were able to place where the curler was from: an old perming machine.
It would have been used in the 1950’s and the hair was wound tightly around the silver curler.
The black part is made out of Bakelite and is then attached to the machine and bombarded with electricity.
The machine that the Museum has is a Helene Curtis, one of the big names in hair products! Come down and have a look!
