People are moving to Regina and Saskatoon at rates unseen almost anywhere else in Canada, according to Statistics Canada, who on Thursday released information about the growth of the country’s census metropolitan areas.

Saskatoon and its outlying communities top the growth chart. For a city of 265,000 as of July 1, bringing in 7,300 new people since June 2009 made it Canada’s fastest growing city.

Saskatoon’s growth is continuing at the rate seen the previous year.

Regina’s growth rate has picked up. The city and its surrounding communities came in at number three in Canada by adding 4,754 people to its population bringing it to 215,000 as of July 1.
