Libyan Canadians protest in Regina’s Victoria Park
A rally calling for the Canada and other world leaders to step in and remove Libyan leader Moammar Gadhafi was held in Victoria Park on Monday.
Many Libyans living in Regina braved the bitter cold to march for an end to Gadhafi’s 42 years of oppressive rule.
A domino effect seems to be taking hold of the region as many citizens have grown weary with the dictatorship rule and are now demanding democratic rule. Tunisia’s uprising gave power to Egypt’s push for democracy.
Now, Dr. Abdalla Muftah, a doctor in Regina, says these historical events have inspired the people in his birth land.
