Golf Grants Available – Deadlines are Soon

Mar 5, 2011 | 5:00 PM

Another golf season is around the corner and the Saskatchewan Golf Association would like to notify you about some great opportunities that are available to students, schools and communities throughout the Province.

These programs include the National Golf in Schools program, CN Future Links Mobile Clinics, SAGE scholarships and Athlete Assistance Grants.

The National Golf in Schools program is currently in 123 schools in Saskatchewan. Over 40% of elementary schools are participating in this program in Saskatchewan and we encourage all schools to participate and give children the opportunity to learn about this great life long game through the National Golf in Schools program.

You can integrate other classes into this program such as math, English, history and incorporate games to fill gaps of time in the classroom. The program is designed for grades 1-6 and has been very successful throughout the country. Another way to introduce or further develop children in golf is through CN Future Links.

The Saskatchewan Golf Association and Royal Canadian Golf Association in partnership with the CPGA of Saskatchewan are very proud to present the CN Future Links “learn to golf” opportunity to your communities.

Through the CN Future Links Program, the instructors will introduce and teach the game of golf to as many young people as time and resources will allow.

They will deliver a fun, interactive, energetic style to teaching that will leave the participants smiling and wanting more.

We promise a high energy learning experience to those wanting to “learn the game of a lifetime” and will never leave a group unsatisfied.

Recreational directors that are interested in offering a golf camp to you are encouraged to contact the SGA as we will be able to help coordinate and support a camp for junior golf.

After attending the Saskatchewan High School Championship in Humboldt last year, the SGA would like to invite and encourage all junior golfers to sign up and participate in the Saskatchewan Golf Association’s Provincial Championships.

This year’s junior championship will be held in Swift Current at Chinook Golf Club. If you are looking for fun, competition, a chance to represent Saskatchewan at Nationals and meet some great players in the Province, contact the Saskatchewan Golf Association for details to sign up and play!

The deadline to apply for SAGE scholarships and Athlete Assistance Grants is April 1st 2011. To learn more about the SAGE scholarships and Athlete Assistance Grants it is encouraged you visit our website at www.saskgolf.ca and check out our player development section.

It is here you will learn about the SAGE scholarships and Athlete Assistance Grants that are being offered. You may also upload an application to apply for these opportunities.

There are plenty of opportunities to expose children to this great life long game and the Saskatchewan Golf Association is here to help.
