Man-Sask Provincial Champs
Over the weekend 13 swimmers from the Prince Albert Sharks Swim Team competed at the 2011 Manitoba-Saskatchewan Championships held at the state of the art Shaw centre in Saskatoon. This event is the Provincial short course (25m pool) Championships that the ‘AA’ qualified swimmers have been training towards since September 2010.

The Sharks team was made up of Danielle lyons, Scott Mills, Natasha Nagle, Anne-Marie Charles, Brayden Hurl, Regan Hamel, Jeremy Lucas, Austin Heinrich, Mark Jones, Reganne Neumeier, Colleen Daniels, Chris Borsos, and Shelby Long.

Over the 4 day event the swimmers were entered in 75 preliminary races in which they had to compete for a place in the finals. With a lot of personal best times swum in the morning prelims the team was kept very busy with 39 finals.

Overall it was a great weekend for the PA Sharks Swim Team with some of the more senior swimmers in the team (Lyons, Mills, Nagle, Charles, Daniels) creating a great team atmosphere and really supporting the newer team members (Neumeier, Long, Jones).

Having these younger swimmers coming through into this level of swimming shows some good depth in the PA Sharks Swim Team which should improve our provincial standings from 3rd small club at the short course champs this weekend to 1st small club at the long course (50m pool) champs held in early July.

Some of the stand out results from the weekend would be:
Danielle Lyons – 4th 400 Individual Medley in a National Age Group Qualifying time of 5.08.68
Mark Jones – 5th 50 and 200 Breaststroke
Brayden Hurl – 5th 100 fly
Reganne Neumeier – 6th 50 Back and 50 Fly
Scott Mills – 5th 50 and 200 Back, 6th 100 Back
