Dundee Developments handling rumours about Harbour Landing

Apr 26, 2011 | 7:03 AM

The rumour mill about Harbour Landing is buzzing about cracked basements, sinking foundations and flooding issues, but the developer behind the south Regina neighbourhood says the statements are simply untrue.

“I just find them very, very overwhelming for the amount of activity and discussion this has brought forward to the table,” said Ned Kosteniuk, vice president of Regina land with Dundee Developments.

He says the company has made every effort to investigate the claims.

“We've heard things about houses settling into the ground. We've heard about salt attacking basements. We heard there were flooding issues,” he said, adding that none of that has proven true.

Dundee has appealed to the community, checked with New Home Warranty and even hired a third party company, Stantec Consulting, to examine the land.

But all their efforts came up with nothing and no one has every come forward with a single issue.

“We've asked the people who have (heard) the rumours to give us some examples or give us some details so we can explore them,” he said.

Kosteniuk says so far, they can't tell if it has effected business, but continue to take it very seriously.

“We don't want people to make decisions on non-factual items,” he said.
