Canada and the European Union are in the late stages of negotiating behind closed doors the Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement (CETA), a deal that goes far beyond current trade deals like NAFTA to include provincial and local governments. If signed, CETA would threaten buy-local initiatives and food security, lead to skyrocketing prescription drug costs and encourage the privatization of everything from water services to health care.

Come learn more about CETA, its impact on communities and what you can do to stop it at a free public event at John M. Cuelenaere Public Library, 125 12 Street East, Prince Albert, on Tuesday, May 31 at 7:00. Speakers will be Maude Barlow, National Chairperson, Council of Canadians, and Terry Boehm, President, National Farmers Union.

The event is cosponsored by the Prince Albert Chapter of The Council of Canadians, The National Farmers Union, and John M. Cuelenaere Public Library. Everyone is welcome.
